Iberian American Language Institute (IALI) was established in 2009 as an after schools program at PS 183 in New York City to provide its students with the opportunity to learn a second language from elementary schools. We believe in the belief that every child should learn a second language.

IALI offers Spanish classes in four modalities: reading, writing, listening, and comprehension through an immersed after school program. The foreign language education program combines a strong foundation with a structured and planned play group. This is an exclusively created, foreign language program that will plunge your child into the learning process naturally through drama, singing, puppets, fun games, music, storytelling, and patchwork and construction. Each class is a unique and unrepeatable opportunity specially planned for your child to produce the most effective benefit in absorbing the target language.

MARIA ISABEL RUSCELLI, M.S. Educ.

Founder & Director

Maria Isabel Ruscelli, founder and director of the Iberian American Language Institute (IALI) was born in Argentina. She graduated from Adelphi University, in New York, with a Masters Degree in Bilingual Special Education. Additionally, she holds from Argentina, a Bachelor in Law from the Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires (UBA), a second Bachelor Degree of Arts in Drama, and an Associates Degree in Journalism from the Broadcasting Institute of Journalism, (ISER).

She is a certified New York City public school teacher and in 2009, she launched a Spanish after school program for students who attend PS 183 in collaboration with experienced and caring Argentinean colleagues.

Maria Isabel would like to use her background and professional experience to promote the learning of a second language. She believes that every child should have the opportunity to learn a second language in order to face the new challenges of a global society in the 21st Century.
